A watercolor car portrait by Jack Pumphrey of a 1918 Scripps-Booth Model D Roadster, Scripps-Booth was active from 1913 to 1923 in Detroit, Michigan, the company was founded by James Scripps Booth, the first model produced by Scripps-Booth was given the name of Rocket, went on sale for $385, with the launch of the Ford Model T, car prices began to fall for the Rocket, & after only 400 units Scripps-Booth decided to produce luxury cars, in 1916 the company merged with Sterling Motor Company to form the Scripps-Booth Corporation, Scripps-Booth was bought by Chevrolet becoming part of General Motors , which decided in 1923 to discontinue Scripps-Booth
