Description
1981 CHECKER MARATHON SEDAN: In 1922, the Checker Cab Manufacturing Company was formed in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It would later become the Checker Motors Corporation. The Checker automobile was a by-product of the Checker Cab, one of the most prolific and prominent of all taxicabs produced in the United States. In 1959, Checker began targeting the civilian passenger car market with the Superba. This car was supplanted by the Marathon in 1961. Since 1959, styling has remained practically unchanged.
